THE BALLAD OF JELLY AND CHARLIE
(it was actually written back in early June, to help keep our chin up during our political exile, but if we all ever needed cheering up, it's now, so -
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM JELLY, CHARLIE, AND THE WHOLE CANAAN CREW!)

This is the story of two felines, both fine and fancy-free -
They're known to you as 'Jellicle Foo and cheerful Charlie C :
One day they took a notion to see what they could see -
And leaving their lair, with never a care, they took off on a spree.

Singing Meow, meow, meow, meow - meow, meow, meow :
Meow, meow, meow, meow - meow, meow, meow!

They stopped off at the profile of Jelly's sweetheart Kyle
To see if he would care to break free and join them for a while.
Then nothing else would do them, they had to pop back home :
Bring Charlie C's sweet Mystery upon their jolly roam.

Meow, meow, meow, meow - meow, meow, meow!

Well, they gamboled round the pages of every cat they knew,
Inviting them to join right in and do as they would do.
And being democratic, they told the puppies that
On this special day, they could join in their play as honorary cats.

Then they broke into the Foomart, with very little noise,
They snacked on all the goodies and they played with all the toys.
They rollicked through the Forums, at least a thousand strong,
Devil-may-care, with tails in the air, and roaring out their song.

Now cats are special creatures, and owners who are wise
Know they prefer amusements away from human eyes.
They love to keep their secrets, and anyone can see
In all that they do, it's certainly true - they're cleverer than we!

Now, AnJellicle and Charlie comprise a special case -
For a virtual pet can be cleverer yet, with all that online space.
Imagine all the mischief that they could get up to...
Surprising a grin from even Admin as they gallivant through Foo.

They ran back through the numbers to when the site was new
To get it on with DrRon and his own foopet crew.
Gave food to all the hungry, and played with those alone -
And promised them all they'd put out the call to find them loving homes.

They raided the Fooshelter, and had themselves a fling
Remaking all the pokeys and reversing neutering -
Then opened all the cages, let everybody out,
And led them away to frolic and play, with this resounding shout :

They took a sudden notion to have themselves some sport,
And answered all the questions that had piled up in Support -
They kindly helped the members, and left them with a smile,
Then off they did run, in search of more fun, a-frisking in the aisle,

Now, music, love, and laughter provide us with a way
To make it through the problem slew of each and every day.
AnJellicle and Charlie are bringing us all three -
And sharing the true heart of Foo with you and you and me...
